World Food Day: Hunger persists despite enough food to feed everyone

World Food Day, marked annually on 16 October, is being celebrated in more than 150 countries and over 50 languages. “On World Food Day, we remind ourselves of the 733 million people who are short of food because of conflict, marginalisation, climate change, poverty and economic downturns — including those who face the threat of man made famine in Gaza and Sudan”, explained Antonio Guterres in the UN Secretary-General's message on World Food Day.

"Students may ask themselves, 'Is it weird to take free food?' We're making it available to everyone and not examining your bank account. There's no judgment for taking it."
